Stein Family Foundation commits $5 million to Boca Raton arts center

The Boca Raton Arts District Exploratory Corporation (BRADEC) has announced a $5 million gift from the Edith & Martin Stein Family Foundation in support of a planned arts and innovation center in Mizner Park.

Launched in 2018, the Boca Raton Center for Arts & Innovationis a nonprofit initiative working to build a hub for the arts, culture, technology, and education that will provide a permanent home for the region’s dance, theater, and music organizations and offer multiple flexible indoor and outdoor performance and event spaces. They include an 1,100-seat concert and performance hall, an existing amphitheater stage that will be renovated into a 450-seat “black box” interior space, the existing 3,500-seat Mizner Park Amphitheater, a 99-seat jewel-box performance hall that can be converted into a large rehearsal studio or event space, an outdoor rooftop terrace, and additional campus spaces that will enable technological innovation and education through the arts. The center is expected to open in late 2026 or early 2027.

Edith Martin and her late husband, Martin, who moved to Boca Raton from New Jersey in 1990, helped found the Boca Raton Philharmonic Symphonia and contributed to local institutions including the Boca Raton Museum of ArtBoca Ballet Theatre, the Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation, and the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County.

“On behalf of BRADEC, I’m thrilled to announce this landmark pledge to our capital campaign,” said BRADEC board president Andrea Virgin. “The exceptional generosity and commitment to improving the civic and cultural life of Boca Raton demonstrated by Edith and her late husband, Martin, have put us on a path to realizing our extraordinary vision for the center, and establishing Boca Raton as an epicenter for the arts, technological innovation, and education along the Gold Coast.”
