The Center for Arts & Innovation (The Center) is excited to announce the launch of its next generation of programs, led by its recently hired Director of Program Development, Apryl Freeman. In this pivotal role, Freeman will spearhead the creation, design, and execution of innovative programs that inspire creativity, foster community engagement, and position The Center as a national leader in arts and educational programming.
With more than 20 years of experience in education, program strategy, and nonprofit leadership, Freeman has a proven track record of turning ambitious ideas into programs that deliver measurable impact. She has designed, led, and scaled initiatives across K–12 schools, higher education institutions, and national nonprofits. A proud graduate of Florida A&M University and Florida International University, Freeman brings a deep passion for fostering creativity in education and helping organizations grow in meaningful ways.
“We are thrilled to have Apryl joining us as we launch our new programs,” said Andrea Virgin, CEO of The Center. “Her visionary leadership and extensive experience in program strategy and community engagement will help shape transformative experiences that reflect our mission. Apryl’s dedication to creativity as a force for personal and societal growth aligns perfectly with our vision for The Center.”
As Director of Program Development, Freeman will oversee the creation and implementation of high-impact programs both before and after The Center opens its doors. She will collaborate closely with senior leadership, manage budgets and timelines, cultivate partnerships with cultural institutions, educators, and community organizations, and ensure all programs deliver meaningful outcomes for participants of all ages.
“I am honored to join The Center at such an exciting moment in its journey,” Freeman said. “I look forward to building programs that empower people to explore, imagine, and express themselves fully—while creating spaces where curiosity, collaboration, and creativity thrive.”
Freeman’s leadership marks a significant milestone in The Center’s mission to nurture creativity, inspire innovation, and build a community where imagination and impact go hand in hand.
