Bring the whole family outside for a morning of hands-on growing, creative expression, and reflection.
The Garden of Us is a Miami-Dade initiative inviting communities to design and build their own gardens; micro-sanctuaries rooted in creativity, nature, and shared ownership. Our program adds the creative layer that turns a planting day into something families remember: creativity, storytelling, and reflection woven right into the soil.
Your ticket includes a design workshop where every family member gets hands-on, from the youngest new gardener to the oldest. Participants start by decorating their own take-home pot, making it a one-of-a-kind piece to bring home. Then it’s out into the garden for planting across eight rows, with roles rotating so everyone gets to try every part of the process, from digging to watering to tucking seeds into the earth. As a bonus, we’ll have lunch covered, so families can stay fueled and keep the momentum going.
- Real time outdoors: Hands in the dirt, phones away. Time in nature lowers stress and supports wellbeing for kids and adults alike, and this program is built to give families that time together.
- A real connection to food: Planting and tending their own rows teaches participants how food actually grows, a lesson that sticks longer than any worksheet.
- Room to reflect and grow: Each session ends with a quiet moment of reflection, writing (and sharing, if they want to) about something they hope to grow in their own life. It’s a small practice that builds creativity, self-expression, and communication skills at any age.
Lunch is incuded and every participant goes home with their painted pot, seeds, simple tools to keep growing, and a firsthand understanding of how their garden, and their own growth, take root.
