The “What Do You See?” Short Film Fellowship & Premiere invites South Florida youth (ages 10–18) to explore what creativity means to them through the lens of a camera and the power of their own voice. Inspired by The Center’s award-winning short film of the same name, this program gives young storytellers the opportunity to craft and share their ideas via original short films.
With the guidance of professional mentors in the film industry, participants will gain media literacy, collaboration skills, and creative confidence, all while sparking dialogue across families and communities.
The 2026 “What Do You See?” Short Film Fellowship selected five young aspiring filmmakers from nearly 50 applicants across South Florida and gave them the tools, mentorship, and creative space to make something entirely their own.
Over several months, fellows moved through a structured series of workshops covering every stage of the filmmaking process, scriptwriting, pre-production, storyboarding, filming, and editing, each one led by professional mentors in the industry. The process was intentional, building skills and confidence in equal measure. With Apple providing the tools and the mentors providing the real-world knowledge, fellows had everything they needed to bring their vision to life.
What came out the other side were five original short films, each one a completely different answer to the same question: “When you think of creativity, what do you see?”
